HIM is a synthetic being created by the Enclave Council, using Eternal DNA they managed to acquire so that they could create their ideal template for a new race of humanoid beings known as the Sovereign who would one day rule the entire cosmos. However, the being rebelled, turned against them and went on to find his own path and assumed the name Adam Warlock.
Adam later on went mad and was place in a cocoon until he regained sanity how ever his madness also created the evil being Magus who for months battled his better half. Eventually Magus and Adam were separated and Adam saw fit to join the heroes in their struggle during the Infinity War, after which he became a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy after the sentry sacrificed him self. After separating from his evil half Adam faced magus one last time for superiority but magus soon had him beat and would've killed him if Iron Man hadn't come in the end. Warlock finally destroyed him but at the cost of his incredible power which he happily accepted.
