Barnell Bohusk aka Blackwing was one of the Ani-Men until his powers were removed by SHIELD. Growing vengeful Barnell joined HYDRA's Masters of Evil in order to get his revenge.

Biography

Barnell Bohusk was a test subject for the High Evolutionary's cross-species experiments. After the experiment Barnell received the appearance of a Bird, as well as bird like abilities. He originally was horrified at what he became but after finding a place with the Ani-Men found a new purpose in life. He also met his future wife Angel at the Savage Land, and the grew incredibly close.

Barnell has fought for the High Evolutionary on many missions, but was captured by SHIELD during his last mission. SHIELD attempted to cure Barnell of his cross-species powers using a modified version of the cure that the Lizard was injected with, taking away his powers and giving him the appearance of a normal human again. Having grown attached to his powers, and horrified at the thought of losing his wife Barnell grew furious at SHIELD and plotted his revenge.

After Barnell escaped SHIELD's grasp he decided to sink so low as to join HYDRA in order to achieve his vengeance. Gideon Malick, seeing a desperate soul thirsty for power within Barnell, allowed him to join and recommended him for Zemo's Masters Initiative. Barnell then went to the Masters' facility and due to his former powers involving birds, he was given a suit that resembled one. He was then given the code name Blackwing, in memory of his predecessor. After becoming one of the Masters, Barnell would not stop until he got his revenge on SHIELD.

Angel eventually met up with Barnell and she was willing to overlook his new appearance. They then started to see each other again despite now working for separate organizations.

• Blackwing Suit: Beak wears an advanced body suit that gives him the ability to fly, superhuman strength, and energy blasts, as well as giving him enhanced protection.

Former Powers

• Avian Mutation : Formerly had a mutation wherein his bones were light and hollow. His arms had feathers which allowed him to glide and fly for short distances with great effort.
  • Enhanced Sight: Beak could see at a long range.
  • Talons: Beak has talons on his hands and feet.
