Grottu

Grottu was once a carpenter ant that was procured by Cross Tech to be used in their experiments with increasing the size between atoms rather than decrease. William Cross, with the aid of HYDRA's scientists, worked to increase the distance without the need of a suit, and so created a mutagen formula that would allow living subjects to survive the density alteration. Grottu was one of the first test subjects, and, after the test, grew to lengths even they did not expect. After running amuck through San Francisco, Ant Man defeated Grottu by taking the form of Giant-Man, then fled the scene while the authorities took the creature away for safekeeping in the Vault.

Powers and Abilities[]

Superhuman Strength: Grottu's strength level is several thousand times that of a normal ant, but his strength level is proportionate to an animal of his size and weight.
Superhuman Durability: Grottu's carapace is highly durable and can withstand impact from most conventional weaponry.
Animal Control: Grottu has the ability to communicate and control the hive minds of ants through the two antennae atop his head. The Ants are forced to do his bidding regardless of the command. When the monster-hunter, Frank, broke Grottu's antennae, he lost his ability to communicate with the ant colony's hive mind.
