Janet van Dyne, also known as Wasp, was the wife and partner of Hank Pym and the mother of Hope Van Dyne. During the 1980s, Janet operated as the Wasp in SHIELD alongside Hank as the Ant-Man. The duo undertook many SHIELD operations, until 1987 when she sacrificed herself to save millions of lives, becoming lost in the Quantum Realm. Janet was presumed dead for twenty-five years, until Scott Lang managed to escape the Quantum Realm, which made Hank and Hope suspect that Janet might still be alive. Hank and Hope both worked to create a stable quantum tunnel which could be used to enter the Quantum Realm and bring Janet home. Janet was able to pass a message through Scott to Hank and Hope that aided in their search. Hank then shrank himself and entered the Quantum Realm, reunited with Janet, and then brought her back home.
