Magus was the result of Adam Warlock being stuck in his cocoon for many years, which was placed in the Collector's museum. For centuries, Warlock was bombarded with Chaos and Order's "dark secrets." Primarily, they taught him that there is no such thing as good and evil. Rather, the true struggle is between purpose (life) and non-purpose (death). Warlock sought refuge from these "truths" in his cocoon, but they penetrated even there. Finally, Warlock gave in to these "truths," which resulted in him going insane and calling himself Magus.
The Cocoon eventually opened after the explosion at the Collector's facility and Magus emerged from the cocoon with greatly enhanced powers and purple skin. He then decided that from his experiences in the Cocoon that all life has two options either serve him, or die. Magus was later separated from Warlock by the power of the Infinity Gauntlet and Adam went on to challenge his evil self.
Final duel and demise
a few weeks after the tragic death of the sentry who sacrificed him self to save the world from the void adam decided to kill magus before they unleashed a greater disaster so he telepatcally contacted him and challenged him to a final duel to decide who was supreme which he gladly accepted and so they met atop a mountain and begin and after a long and bloody battle magus emerged trumiphent and prepared to kill him when iron man flew in and blasted him back saying he wouldn't let Adam die like sentry did warlock than seized the oppurity to tear magus still beating heart he mocked him saying if he killed him Adam would lose his powers for good which he replayed saying what would be so bad about being normal much to magus shock and horror warlock than crushed the heart and in seconds magus dropped to the ground dead before fading in to purple dust magus death also caused Adams powers to seemingly vanish wendering him mortal to which he smiled
Powers and Abilities[]
In his prime, the Magus possessed vast cosmic power. He possessed superhuman strength (above Class 100) and cosmic energy powers sufficient to defeat the pre-resurrection Thanos in personal combat. He could also become intangible, teleport and create teleportational portals to accommodate an army. The Magus also possessed certain vaguely defined "hyper senses" that granted him superhuman perceptive abilities. Presumably, this was some form of Cosmic Awareness.
During the Infinity War, At that time he possessed Class 10 strength, supersonic flight speed, enhanced human stamina, reflexes, and agility. His body was made-up of certain cosmic energy receptive cells. He could manipulate cosmic energy for a variety of uncatalogued effects. By tapping into his own stores of cosmic energy, he could achieve Class 50 strength and warp flight speed.
He also briefly possessed the power of five of the Infinity Gems, granting virtually unlimited abilities to manipulate Mind, Power, Soul, Space, and Time.
