One of the first members of Max's Brotherhood, Jason Wyngarde was the original Mastermind. His daughters have inherited his telepathic illusion-based powers and name.
Biography[]
One of the First Brothers[]
Shortly after his birth, Jason Wyngarde was discovered by the High Evolutionary and chose him to help spread his research by placing it inside Jason's DNA. Before the time when Enhanced individuals were left to be though of an impossibility, Jason had managed, through unknown means, to acquire great power relatively unnoticed. However, in the 90's, Jason's powers of psychic illusion were uncovered by Max Eisenhardt. After a time of persuasion, Jason became one of the first members of Max's Brotherhood, and thus became known as Mastermind. Magneto's goals, along with those of their creator, the High Evolutionary, suited Wyngarde's own plans, as he had previously only managed to secure employment as a circus janitor.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Illusion Casting: Mastermind is a mutant with the power of illusion casting. He can psionically cause other people to see, hear, touch, smell, and/or taste things which to not actually exist. Invariably Mastermind's illusions are so realistic that most people are unable to help having the feeling, at least subconsciously, that they are not illusions but reality.
- Limited Memory Manipulation: Mastermind can use his illusions to re-write the memories of impressionable minds such as children. This process is often flawed however.
- Special Limitations: Everyone within the range of his power, which can extend over an entire city, will see his illusions.
