William "Billy" Kaplan was born the eldest of three sons in New York to Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan. Kaplan passed at a young age, however, moments after he was pronounced dead, Billy was inexplicably revived, much to doctors astonishment. Wanda Maximoff, whose twin children with the Vision were magical constructs, wanted to give them a chance at true life, even if that meant she would have to let them go. To do this Wanda placed the essence of her sons into recently deceased children, so that their souls could inhabit real bodies and not be tied to her magic. In school, Billy had trouble with bullies due to his sexuality and being a fanboy, which grew worst as he got older. When Billy stood up to his bully he manifested abilities inherited from his mother in his past life.
At first both had no memories of life with Maximoff, but as time went by they began to remember their past life in addition to the life of their current selves. Finding and reuniting with Tommy, they went in search of Wanda, eventually finding and reconnecting with her. Wanda mentored the two to control and utilize their powers for good. Billy became the hero Wiccan and was introduced to the larger superhero community. America Chavez, a multiversal traveler, came across the twins during one of her excursions into the multiverse, befriending them. When a multiversal crisis ended their universe, Chavez relocated survivors to other universes, with Billy being brought to Earth-616, where he and his brother joined the Young Avengers.
Powers and Abilities[]
Wiccan has demonstrated the following powers:
Chaos Magic: Similar to his “mother” Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch), Billy can channel chaos magic. Chaos magic is extremely rare and allows manipulation of probability, existence, and even destiny.
- Reality Warping: Wiccan can reshape reality according to his will, though he often channels this power through spoken spells. His reality manipulation is instinctive but becomes more potent when paired with his magical training.
- Spell-Casting: Billy casts spells by repeating his intent in spoken words (e.g., “Let them be free. Let them be free. Let them be free…”). He can fly, create force fields, teleport, generate energy blasts, heal wounds, and more.
- Telekinesis: He can move and manipulate objects and people with his mind, either subtly or with force.
- Teleportation: Billy can teleport himself and others across vast distances, even to other dimensions or realities.
- Flight: He levitates or flies, often while casting spells or channeling magic.
- Psionic Perception: He can perceive magical and supernatural energies or presences that others cannot.
- Dimensional Awareness: Able to sense disruptions in space-time and the multiverse.
- Astral Projection: Can project his spirit form outside of his body, traveling on the astral plane.
- Energy Manipulation: He can absorb, redirect, and convert energy, including mystical, electrical, or kinetic.
The Demiurge: In future timelines and possible destinies, Wiccan becomes the Demiurge, a cosmic being of pure creation capable of rewriting the rules of magic and existence across the multiverse. As the Demiurge, he's essentially an Elder God-level or multiversal entity.
